A Championship Being

A Championship Being

San Fran is now officially thee champion city. Kamala Harris, fellow UC Hastings almnus, will be California’s attorney general. Pretty boy SF Mayor Gavin Newsom is our new Lieutenant Governor. The San Francisco Giants are World Champions. Barrio Bushido, my novel, a San Fran Mission rooted production, is destined to be worldwide championship literature 🙂 Everything this week is the absolute best. Now, after waking up from this total dream, I question what to do with all of this positive energy. What do victories prove and who are we to become because of them? I share with you how I would like to use this force.

I have a duty to conduct myself as a Fear the Beard weird world champion. I have a responsibility to uniqueness, toughness, pensiveness, and boldness. Hopefully, without sounding too arrogant, I admit that I have been thinking of myself as a champion for awhile now. At this point in my life, I have gone beyond what I realistically initially expected from myself. First of all, I am actually alive. That is a gigantic victory. I desired and imagined life that much, and I was very lucky. All power to that Infinite Intelligence that exists beyond our explanations! I live the life I love. I have things, so the American Dream can no longer haunt or taunt me.

Now as a super champion, I must use my talents to my full potential. I must write. I must spread my writing. Through it, I believe I can give stories that people can relate to and be inspired by, especially gente. Many need a voice to help them uplift their imagination. I want people to be moved to imagination by my work. I want to win people’s time, the most precious asset that any of us own. I am a champion if people voluntarily read my writing, but especially if they read my book, Barrio Bushido. If people voluntarily enjoy ten hours inside of my most intimate space—my mind—and I spend ten hours inside of their minds, this, this is victory.

The Giants did this these past few weeks; they invited me to enjoy (and be tortured by) time. Time did not exist. I postponed everything for them. For them, I was immersed in the present. I did not think about my nostalgia or my visions. To be a super champion, I would like to help people forget about their own anxieties or destinies. While they are reading, listening, dialoguing with me, I want them to be in the now. The winning now.

Being a champion is about continuing the celebration of now throughout our lives, not just on one day or one week of parades and partying. Let us not simply remember this championship feeling; permit it to become part of our being, a championship being.

  1. I’m going to print this essay, highlight the following fragments and add these words next to each of them:
    – A VISION: “my… rooted production, is destined to be worldwide championship …
    – FAITH/CONFIDENCE: “Everything this week is the absolute best.”
    – INGENUITY: “what to do with all of this positive energy”
    – WISDOM: “What do victories prove and who are we to become because of them?”
    – PURPOSEFUL INNER DRIVE: “I have a duty to conduct myself as a … world champion. I have a responsibility to uniqueness, toughness, pensiveness, and boldness.” and I will add: perseverance, love & PAZ.
    – SUPERB SENSE OF GRATEFULNESS & HAPPINESS: “I am actually alive.”
    – INDIVIDUALIZED COMMITMENT: “Now as a super champion, I must use my talents to my full potential.”
    – REALISTIC: “especially gente… Many need a voice…”
CELEBRATE LIFE: “continuing the celebration of now throughout our lives”

  2. Thank you for sharing this essay. It is very inspiring and realistic. I hope more people get to read it. We need REAL Super Champions. Thank you!
